Somerset’s first “Cumberland Con” paranormal/comic book convention will begin on Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. at Jarfly Brewing Company. The kick-off at Jarfly Brewing Co. located at 103 W. Mt. Vernon St. will include paranormal/comic trivia, a live artist sketch battle, and a local DJ.
The main Cumberland Con event will be held on Saturday, October 14 at the John Sherman Cooper Community Arts Center located at 107 N. Main St. from 10 a.m. — 6 p.m. VIPs will be granted one-hour early access beginning at 9 a.m.
The top floor will host panels of featured artists, special guests, a cosplay contest for children 12 & under, a cosplay contest for 13+ judged by professional cosplayers. The main floor of the building will be dedicated to comic/pop culture vendors and featured artists. The basement level will have paranormal vendors and guests, along with access to The International Paranormal Museum and Research Center. Outside we will have “The Cooper Village” and a Food Truck Area. The Cooper Village will contain more local non-themed vendors and non-profits.
The Cooper Village and Food Truck Area are FREE to the general public. Access to the inside vendors, artists, special guests, and cosplay contest will be $10 per adult and FREE to children 12 & under.
Following Saturday’s convention an after-party with LIVE bands will be held at Jarfly Brewing Co. from 6 p.m. until close with a $10 cover fee, VIPs will have FREE access to the after-party event. Parking will be provided by First Baptist Church in their south lot.
