Cumberland Con

Som­er­set’s first “Cum­ber­land Con” paranormal/comic book con­ven­tion will begin on Fri­day, Octo­ber 13 at 7 p.m. at Jarfly Brew­ing Com­pa­ny. The kick-off at Jarfly Brew­ing Co. locat­ed at 103 W. Mt. Ver­non St. will include paranormal/comic triv­ia, a live artist sketch bat­tle, and a local DJ.

The main Cum­ber­land Con event will be held on Sat­ur­day, Octo­ber 14 at the John Sher­man Coop­er Com­mu­ni­ty Arts Cen­ter locat­ed at 107 N. Main St. from 10 a.m. — 6 p.m. VIPs will be grant­ed one-hour ear­ly access begin­ning at 9 a.m.

The top floor will host pan­els of fea­tured artists, spe­cial guests, a cos­play con­test for chil­dren 12 & under, a cos­play con­test for 13+ judged by pro­fes­sion­al cos­play­ers. The main floor of the build­ing will be ded­i­cat­ed to comic/pop cul­ture ven­dors and fea­tured artists. The base­ment lev­el will have para­nor­mal ven­dors and guests, along with access to The Inter­na­tion­al Para­nor­mal Muse­um and Research Cen­ter. Out­side we will have “The Coop­er Vil­lage” and a Food Truck Area. The Coop­er Vil­lage will con­tain more local non-themed ven­dors and non-prof­its.

The Coop­er Vil­lage and Food Truck Area are FREE to the gen­er­al pub­lic. Access to the inside ven­dors, artists, spe­cial guests, and cos­play con­test will be $10 per adult and FREE to chil­dren 12 & under.

Fol­low­ing Saturday’s con­ven­tion an after-par­ty with LIVE bands will be held at Jarfly Brew­ing Co. from 6 p.m. until close with a $10 cov­er fee, VIPs will have FREE access to the after-par­ty event. Park­ing will be pro­vid­ed by First Bap­tist Church in their south lot.
