What start­ed as a charette on this day in 2020 to pro­mote uni­ty and shine a light on the expe­ri­ences of Somerset’s black com­mu­ni­ty has been trans­formed into a fes­ti­val fea­tur­ing food\, music and art! \nThe City of Som­er­set and the Lake Cum­ber­land Diver­si­ty Coun­cil are part­ner­ing to host this free com­mu­ni­ty event — noon to 9 p.m. Sat­ur­day\, June 19 at the Pulas­ki Coun­ty Judi­cial Cen­ter Plaza — as a cel­e­bra­tion of the community’s black and mul­ti-cul­tur­al her­itage. \nThe art com­po­nent of the fes­ti­val includes live cre­ation from sev­er­al region­al and statewide artists\, includ­ing Louisville’s Damon Thomp­son and Yolan­tha Pace\, Mon­ti­cel­lo’s Mitchell McGuire and Somerset’s Desmond Brit­tle and Bradley Shane Gilmore.
